Vireak Chheng  
VP of of Data and Technology Solutions

Vireak brings 20 years of school-specific data and tech experience to Data Impact. In his current role, he oversees attendance, CALPADS, information technology and student data services.

Vireak began his education-focused career in 2002 at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA), a community of high-performing public schools serving students in historically underserved neighborhoods of Central Los Angeles. Vireak spent 5 years working as a Data Systems Administrator and Information Technology (IT) Coordinator.

After his time at CNCA, Vireak joined the Alliance College-Ready Public Schools. The Alliance is currently the largest charter school network in Los Angeles, and larger than 75% of all school districts in California. During his 10 years at Alliance, he served multiple roles in which he oversaw technical design, data collection, reporting, and analysis functions for the organization. 

In his most recent role, as Vice President of Data and Technology Solutions, he was responsible for developing strategic priorities and operating plans for IT, Student Information Systems (SIS) and Research, Assessment and Data teams.

As the accountability landscape becomes more demanding, schools must demonstrate their student information and achievement in more sophisticated ways. A key part of Vireak’s work is focused on guiding clients to make data-informed decisions to impact and highlight the success of their schools and students. Vireak is passionate about ensuring that all students have an opportunity to experience high-quality education and is thrilled to use his expertise to continue serving the community.

Vireak earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from California State University, Northridge.

Iris Benitez
School Performance Data Analyst

Iris brings over 13 years of school data management experience to the team at Data Impact.  She is responsible for supporting our clients with CALPADS, attendance, SIS support and student performance reporting requirements.

Before joining the team in 2018, Iris gained experience in school data management as a Data Clerk and later as an SIS Analyst in fast-growing school organizations, most notably Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC).  In her role at PUC, she created, implemented, and refined school-level data production, collection, and reporting activities for over 17 schools with a focus on CALPADS information. 

Her responsibilities included building CALPADS and PowerSchool capacity among Principals, Counselors, Deans, Food Services Departments, Registrars, Attendance Managers, English Learner Departments, SpED Departments, Homeless and Foster Youth liaison groups. Her ability to understand the data needs of these stakeholder groups and how their data aligns can support CALPADS reporting requirements has proven to be a trademark of her success.

Iris holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Chicano Studies from the University of California at Davis.  She is passionate about helping schools support their students, families, and communities and strives to provide the best service to ensure their success. 

Baothanh Torii
Data Coordinator

Baothanh joined Data Impact with over 5 years of experience in supporting charter schools. She had held Data and System Analyst roles at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy and Alliance College-Ready Public Schools; both Los Angeles-based charter management organizations (CMOs) serving thousands of students across the city. Prior to her transition into the education space, Bao supported financial institutions for over 10 years via various roles, with her last role being an analyst on Preferred Bank’s  Anti-Money Laundering taskforce. She shifted her focus to education because she wanted to align her desire to serve her community with her professional life. In her current role, she is focused on delivering high quality data that maximizes funding opportunities for schools.  She supports this goal by managing various aspects of the data production cycle including data collection, data cleaning, and compliance reporting.

Bao has two children with her youngest in kindergarten.  Being a mother, she credits her shift into the education space to her children. Her experience and skillset make her an effective partner that can help schools navigate a complex and ever-changing set of state compliance rules.
